Alissa Physiotherapist

Andrew Simpson – Exercise Physiologist

Andrew Simpson has always been passionate about exercise and the therapeutic effects it has on our bodies, so following a career as an exercise physiologist was a natural choice.

He believes that everyone should have the ability to enjoy being physically active and leading a life that is not constrained by mobility deficits.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science from Griffith University Gold Coast Campus and a Bachelor of Business from the same institute.

Additionally he has certifications in Kinetic Link Training and Group Facilitation.

He started his career in 2006 working as a cardiac physiologist in Queens Hospital, Roehampton, predominately doing cardiac investigations. When he returned to Australia he focused on workplace rehabilitation and return to work in Central Queensland. While there he also facilitated injury prevention programs with mining companies.

Wanting to develop another skill, he then moved into health and wellness, helping executives maintain healthy lifestyles with exercise interventions.

Following that he started My Health Team with Mark Antonello in January 2012 where they combined experience to create a collaborative healthcare that helps people live healthier and happier lives.

Andrew loves working with people who have a strong desire to live an active life. A lot of his clients see the mobility issues their parents or friends are going through and want to avoid that themselves. He specialized in developing programs for those who have difficulty exercising due to aches or pains, particularly for those aged fifty plus.

When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his two beautiful young children. When they are not doing fun things as a family, he loves spending time surfing, cycling, and mountain biking.

Mitch McDonald – Head Physiotherapist

Experience

Mitchell embarked on his journey in the field of physiotherapy with a passion for health and sports that has been ingrained in him since childhood. He joined the prestigious My Health Team in January 2020 as a fresh graduate physiotherapist, marking the beginning of his professional journey. His academic pursuits culminated in the completion of a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from the esteemed University of Queensland in 2019. During his final year of studies, Mitchell honed his skills by dedicating four months to working as a Physiotherapist at various hospitals and clinics across Brisbane.

Prior to his physiotherapy journey, Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Catawba College in North Carolina, USA. His commitment to this field was further exemplified by maintaining certification as a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the USA.

Certifications

Mitchell’s commitment to advancing his skills and knowledge is reflected in his certifications, including being Certified in Introductory Dry Needling and holding a License as an Athletic Trainer in the USA.

Passion Meets Profession

Mitchell’s path to becoming a physiotherapist was shaped by his deep-rooted love for sports, with tennis being his particular forte. He attained a high level of proficiency, earning a tennis scholarship to compete in the USA. His fascination with anatomy and biomechanics further fueled his desire to pursue a career at the intersection of health and sports. This journey led him to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, where he gained invaluable experience working as a healthcare professional for athletic teams at his school and in Professional Baseball during summer breaks. His ultimate goal was to return to the Southern Hemisphere, and he found the perfect fit in a Physiotherapy program that seamlessly complemented his Bachelor’s degree, enabling him to practice in Australia.

Beyond the Clinic

Mitchell believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and cherishing the moments away from work. When not attending to his patients, he enjoys quality time with loved ones, engaging in various activities, and nurturing personal connections. His competitive spirit finds expression in trivia nights, board games, dinners with friends, and a shared enthusiasm for sporting events. Weekends often revolve around football, where he not only plays competitively but also savors the thrill of watching the English Premier League.
